Here is one of my other projects for the show, a functional carousel. The animals are removable and wearable as rings. The carousel spins around and the animals all go up and down, just like the real thing! They are going around in this picture, that is why they are blurry.

So how did we get this to the school for the fork truck to pick it up?

First we put up some ramps and hooked two winches up to it and slowly pulled it up onto the trailer. It weighs a little more then I originally planned, it's now around 1200 lbs so it's not easy to move and you definitely can't move it with brute force like a car. Five people would have trouble pushing this. Now pushing the car on the track is another story! It rolls very well on the track. But I had to secure the car so that it wouldn't move for transport and for people getting into it.

Going up!

Almost there now! Just a few more feet until the whole thing is onto the flatbed. Once it was up we took the wheels off of the track since they were no longer needed. The fork truck just put his tongs between the track ties.

And it's up! After the wheels were off we put load straps and tarps over it because it started raining, then snowing.

The forklift driver was really nice, he had a great sense of humor! My thanks go out to to everyone from physical plant that helped to make this possible!

Lifting it back onto the trailer at the end of the night to go on to bigger and better things!

A close up of the face!
